A Colorful Summer Wedding at First Lutheran Church & Holiday Inn Lakefront | Detroit Lakes

There’s something special about a summer wedding in Detroit Lakes, and Jenna and Aaron’s day was the perfect example. From a heartfelt ceremony at First Lutheran Church to a lakeside celebration at Holiday Inn Lakefront, every part of the day reflected who they are – joyful, intentional, and surrounded by people who love them.

One of my favorite details was their bold color palette. Instead of sticking with traditional neutrals, they embraced vibrant florals featuring fuchsia, cobalt blue, emerald green, violet, and goldenrod. It made every part of the day feel bright, energetic, and completely unique to them.

Jenna and Aaron’s story started in an unexpected place … a job interview! Jenna was on the interview team when Aaron interviewed at Rum River South, and what began as a professional introduction eventually turned into a relationship. Years later, Aaron proposed on Paradise Beach in Cozumel by hiding the ring inside a buried treasure chest for Jenna’s nieces to discover.

After exchanging vows at First Lutheran Church, we explored some of Detroit Lakes’ best portrait locations, including the church steps and, of course, the lakeshore near Holiday Inn Lakefront. One of the things I love most about photographing weddings in Detroit Lakes is that you don’t have to travel far to find gorgeous scenery. There’s so much variety in one location!
