2nd Trimester Update Baby Grundyson

Aug 27, 2018

Brittney and Caleb Photography, Baby update

Hey all!
We are so happy to share that today marks day one of my second trimester! ♥︎ For those that missed our pregnancy announcement – check it out on our FACEBOOK PAGE or INSTAGRAM POST!

I’ve had many requests for a “bump photo” so I figured if there was a time to share one, today is that day! I don’t have much of a bump yet… but both Caleb and I agreed that the bump photos should start somewhere! 🙂

Just for fun, I’ll be blogging throughout pregnancy so we can look back and remember this sweet time in our life. Enjoy!

When did we find out we were pregnant?

I took a pregnancy test on June 14th, 2018 late at night… it was a *very* slight positive pink line so I didn’t tell Caleb because I wanted to make sure I wasn’t just seeing things! I couldn’t sleep that night and decided to take a test (or two or three!) around 5am the next morning. All of the tests came back clearly positive! I decided I should let Caleb sleep so I anxiously paced around the house for a few hours in hopes he would wake up soon!

How did I tell Caleb?

Those few hours were torture! Keeping this news to myself while I waited for him to wake up was not easy. After a few hours I decided I couldn’t wait any longer. I had bought a mug that said papa bear on it so that was filled with coffee ready to go for the big announcement. I went into the bedroom and sat waiting for him to realize I was there. Probably not the most pleasant way to wake up! Ha! Sorry Caleb! When he woke up, I asked him if he wanted to go for a walk on the beach. He was confused as to why I would be asking him this at that time of morning… so he didn’t really respond yes or no. I waited a bit longer for him to wake up and when he finally did I gave him the mug. He was thrilled and wide awake once the news was out! We did end up going for a walk on the beach and had a blast dreaming about this little baby’s life.

What were your first trimester cravings?

My cravings were not too crazy in the first trimester. If anything, I’ve been repulsed by food. Unfortunately, after 7-8 weeks pregnant, I started to get really sick on a daily basis. I wasn’t keeping what I was eating down so food didn’t sound good at all. However, I did go through a stage in early pregnancy that I craved grilled cheese every day! In the time I’ve been sick, we ate a lot of bland fast food because nothing else sounded appetizing and we were too tired out to cook (June, July, and August are busy season for us! So even if I wasn’t pregnant… we tend to eat more fast food in this time of year for convenience).

How have you been feeling overall?

See answer above ^ Not great – but SO thankful to be pregnant! We have had a handful of ultrasounds already and each time we see that little heart beat, it reminds us this is all worth it!

What was it like shooting weddings in the first trimester?

I found out I was pregnant around 3 weeks (super early!). I didn’t feel any different for the beginning of the first trimester but we did notice that my emotions were all over the place and I was a little more tired at the end of the day. We had a lot of laughs over the moments I would tear up. At one wedding, a dog came out as a surprise for the bride and groom and I was crying. I mean… dogs are fun and all, but I typically wouldn’t cry over a moment like this! Ha!

The second part of the first trimester was harder. I was sick before the day even started which isn’t a great way to start a wedding day. BUT thank the Lord for adrenaline because as soon as we got to each wedding day, I was just fine! I’ve been more intentional to drink water and snack throughout the day which I wasn’t the best at before. I think it helps!

What are you most looking forward to in the second trimester?

We can’t wait to find out the gender and feel the baby move!!

And to end this post – a picture my sister took of me. Ha! We were at a hotel the night before a wedding and I was hungry… so pizza and cake was ordered! She was happy… and so was I!
