Today we are one month into being a family of FOUR! We welcomed our sweet baby girl, Cora Rae on December 30th, 2020. She was 8 pounds and 19.5 inches long. She’s absolutely perfect! Here’s a quick look into the last month!
Our birth went amazing – we had a scheduled c-section at the Fargo Essentia hospital. After Caden’s birth, we decided alongside our doctor that a scheduled c-section would be the best route for Cora’s birth. It was such an incredible moment getting to meet our baby girl – we missed out on that moment with Caden since I had to be quickly put under general anesthesia. You can see photos below of the moment they pulled her out and lifted her up the clear drape while they did delayed cord clamping.
When the nurse mentioned we could go home the day after the c-section, we packed right up and went home! We couldn’t wait to be home as a family of four. As amazing as it was to be back with home with Caden though, I’d highly recommend staying in the hospital at least 2 of the 3 days post-surgery. Ha! My pain levels were quite high for those first few days!
Caden wasn’t so sure of baby Cora for the first week. His little world was rocked but thanks to a lot of help from the grandparents, he got a ton of extra play time and attention to help the transition go smoothly! We couldn’t have made it through the first month without our families!! Thanks guys!
Caden has warmed up to his “baby”. He has tried to lift her a few times (yikes!) but he also loves to give her the pacifier, help with diaper changes, and help her play with toys!
Postpartum has been a bit rough… I got mastitis at 2 weeks PP and it was a long 2 weeks of 2 rounds of antibiotics. Then once I was feeling a bit better we had a little scare with a potential blood clot in my leg so that sent me to the ER. Thankfully all is well and I don’t have a blood clot!
We’re so grateful our little gifts from God. We’ve grieved the loss of two babies that we can’t wait to meet some day and now we have two babies here in our arms!
-Loves being snuggled in tight and cozy
-Warm baths are a hit
-At one month exactly, she had her first 5 hour stretch of sleep! Mom woke up at 4 hours waiting for her to wake up! Hoping this continues – ha!
-Hates being cold
-As busy as can be! He keeps us on our toes!
-Our little daredevil and acrobat! He loves belly flopping anywhere and everywhere. Always giving us a heart attack!
-Sits on the potty but doesn’t go quite yet
-“Wader” (water) is his favorite word! He loves all things water… bath time, doing dishes, etc.
Thanks for all the prayers, love, and support over the last few years! Here’s a few photos from the last month!
