Friends!! Can you believe we are already in the month of December?! I’m shocked with how fast 2016 has flown by. We have captured 24 weddings in the last 11 months and have 5 left before 2016 ends! Craziness!
This time last December, Caleb and I were in an interesting spot as a business. We were newlywed, business owners trying to figure out this new way of life together! We had high goals set for our business but we only had around 10 weddings on our calendar. Many hours were spent worrying that the bookings would not come in and that our business would struggle. (I’m pretty sure every small business owner knows how this feels!)
Throughout this time I had been toying with the idea of picking up a full-time photography job but it never felt quite right. I knew that my heart was to run this wedding business with my husband by my side, but ya know… sometimes we worry about income and what not! 😉 After much discussion with Caleb, I finally decided that it was time to submit my online application for this job. Much to my surprise, I went online and the job had been filled. It was in that moment that I realized I had two options. 1) Panic or 2) Trust that God had a bigger and better plan.
Thankfully, Caleb and I chose option 2. We truly felt that God had put this passion and desire in our hearts and we needed to trust that He would provide. January came and the bookings flooded in. We were shocked and so grateful!
Over the past month, Caleb and I have been working on a huge project for our brides! We packaged 46 Christmas gifts and sent them all out yesterday! Each one of the boxes in the photo above represents a wedding for 2016 and 2017. Guys, we are so incredibly blessed to do this job and to be apart of all of these wedding days!! It’s truly an honor to capture such an intimate and beautiful time in each and every one of our brides and groom’s lives!

SIDE NOTE TO OTHER BUSINESS OWNERS – Being a small business owner is scary. Don’t get me wrong, there are some amazing perks! But sometimes it’s really easy to get caught up in a fear that everything is going to fall apart. Caleb and I are (slowly) learning that it’s ok to feel this fear, but we need to give it over to God. He is the one that put us in this business and He promises that He will provide for us when we are faithful to Him. That doesn’t mean we don’t have to put in the hard work, it just means that we can have peace in knowing that the God that created us will sustain us. And that’s a pretty great place to be!
