Welcome back Wedding Wednesday! Brides and Brides-to-be, this one is for you! I’m so excited to have Kelsey Hoff here today talking about hair and makeup. Kelsey has been a dear friend of mine in the past few years and I absolutely love working with her! To see the end result or hair and makeup for our sweet model, Bailey, check out the styled shoot here! Enjoy!

Tell us about yourself and your business!
I’m Kelsey Hoff based out of B. Salon in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. I’ve been in the hair and makeup industry for seven years and absolutely love making people feel their best. I live in Detroit Lakes with my sweet husband and two daughters with another girl arriving in August!

When should a bride book their hair and makeup appointment for their wedding day?
I recommend booking your hair and makeup artist when you officially book your wedding date and venue.

When do you recommend a trial run for hair and makeup?
Because your hair is always growing and changing, I recommend scheduling your trial 2-3 weeks before the wedding day and no more than 4 weeks before the wedding.

Why is it important to have hair and makeup professionally done for the wedding?
There are so many different hair and makeup techniques out there. A trained professional hair and makeup artist will know what techniques need to be used for the best result.

Do you have any tips for picking out your wedding day hairstyle?
Bring in pictures of your hair inspiration to your trial appointment with your stylist. Be sure to identify what you love about the style and what you don’t love. We always look at the style of your wedding dress to best pick your wedding hair. Where do you want to draw attention? Your hair? Neckline? Etc.

Makeup FYI & Tip
Makeup for photos will be more than what you are used to, but do not fear, we will stay in your comfort zone!

When talking to your makeup artist, be sure to ask about how to prepare for your appointment. I always as my clients to come with a clean, moisturized face and dry hair.
